About El Alfarero
El Alfarero began in the city of Sucre in the year 2001. Since that time, thousands of students have been impacted through the services that El Alfarero offers, and in Sucre, the project is now held in great esteem by the students, the churches and the authorities of the city. Santa Cruz is the second El Alfarero project, and has been functioning since 2013, offering the same range of services to meet the needs of students holistically.

Recently we have also been expanding our services to leaders in many different spheres, including our Professional Master`s Programme and a Consulting company offering training to business leaders.
We have three areas of focus - hover over any one of them for more detail:
For Youth Development
El Alfarero tries to meet student’s needs in a holistic manner, helping them on different levels physically, emotionally and spiritually. Through our volunteering system, we give constant coaching and mentoring to young people in need, with our expressed objective of raising up leaders of character.
For Social Responsibility
El Alfarero is a non-profit organisation, legally registered as such with the Bolivian authorities.

The building in Santa Cruz is also an eco-building with solar panels, rainwater collection, passive ventilation and other features which protect the environment and help with our running costs. All income is an investment in young people and the environment.
For Leadership Development
El Aprendiz has been functioning since 2014 as the training wing of El Alfarero. Within Alfarero we offer a Professional Master`s in Strategic Leadership for Ministry.
We also offer training for local businesses in "Transformational Leadership", which allows the development of a healthy organizational culture and improves performance and success.

The El Alfarero Café Restaurant offers nutritious food at affordable prices in a quality atmosphere, accompanied by good music and games. The Café Restaurant is a service to young people because, whilst being open to the public, there is a significant discount for students.
​
The Café Restaurant functions with a combination of staff and volunteers, and it is an opportunity for students to eat for free in exchange for their service in the café and kitchens. It provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills, and reach out to needy young men and women with God’s love.
​
El Alfarero is a community, and the Café Restaurant, with its team of staff and volunteers, is where this community is most visible. The Café Restaurant also provides the entry point into the other services that El Alfarero provides.
Café Restaurant
Counselling
El Alfarero provides free counselling services to young people in crisis. Students who are facing difficult issues to due family problems, relationship breakdown and poor choices can receive support and advice when they most need it. Issues most commonly faced relate to depression, suicidal thoughts, abuse, addictions and relationship breakdown.

El Alfarero is constantly training volunteer counsellors so that young people in crisis can receive qualified and capable help. The counselling service is also open to the general public who pay a small fee for each hour. "La Oficina" Virtual Offices
Our rentable offices are ideal for professionals or businesses who work from home but need a space with a corporate image to develop their initiatives and projects or to hold meetings. This is a flexible, simple, quick and economical solution to the problems created by not having a physical space to attend to clients or work.

Our spaces can adjust to the unique needs of businesses, since we also have meeting rooms and events halls with all the technological comforts necessary. This initiative contributes to the self-sustaining nature of El Alfarero, because the virtual offices ara available in both Sucre and Santa Cruz.
The Events services of El Alfarero provides clients with a quality experience and infrastructure for their event, whilst giving the peace of mind that all incomes from events are invested in the lives of young people through the services provided in El Alfarero. The events centres in Sucre and Santa Cruz are socially responsible, and the Santa Cruz Centre is part of an environmentally friendly building, making El Alfarero the responsible choice. Events are tailored to client needs, and can include meals and refreshments as required.

Events Centre
The library is open to the public and has two main functions. Firstly, it is a support for the counselling services, providing materials (books and DVD’s) that relate to the problems that young people face.
​
Secondly, it is resource for the local church, providing materials that deal with real issues that church leaders and members face, and often do not know how to address.
​
There is an extensive collection of materials about leadership development relevant to a church or business context. All materials can be borrowed from the library for a period of 2 weeks at a minimal cost.
Library
The Masters in Strategic Leadership for Ministry (El Aprendiz) began in 2014 in partnership with the Global University for Lifelong Learning (www.gullonline.org). El Aprendiz is designed to prepare professional men and women for ministry in Latin America, equipping them in ways that a traditional seminary cannot in order to be able to develop self-sustaining projects which impact the community or to serve as counsellors. Each module of the programme is also open to the public. All teaching is in Spanish.

El Aprendiz is based around individual mentoring relationships which enable change and transformation at a head and heart level, and for this reason we have a limit of 20 students each year.
